"I truly felt sorry for Steve as he tried to hold his family together, continue as a college music professor, while being both parents to his three children while his alcoholic and drug addicted wife cheated on him seemingly without a care for anyone or anything. Steve and Jessie's youngest child, Valerie, is scared of her own mother and has nightmares about her. My heart broke for Steve and his children as Jessie went in and out of rehab, something I have personal experience with when it comes to loved ones. Addicts have to want to get better. WAITING FOR AN ECLIPSE had me in tears. I was so affected by these characters who felt as real as the people I know. I couldn't stop my tears as I read. I actually reviewed this series out of order, which really proves how well each story stands on its own. I read WHITE RAINBOW, Book 6--Jessie's story--before this one, so I knew in advance that Jessie was dealing badly with the loss of her brother Tommie, her idol. Unfortunately, that means taking away Jessie's support system. We feel Steve's conflict. He knows that Jessie needs to get better. But, by divorcing her, he could drive her to destroy herself. Her strength and willingness to wait until Steve makes a decision shows a depth of character not always found. The story is well paced with enough scenes to help slow the pacing, so the reader isn't always overwhelmed with emotions. My heart broke for Steve and his children as Jessie went in and out of rehab, something I have personal experience with when it comes to loved ones. Addicts have to want to get better. WAITING FOR AN ECLIPSE had me in tears. I was so affected by these characters who felt as real as the people I know. I couldn't stop my tears as I read. I actually reviewed this series out of order, which really proves how well each story stands on its own. I read WHITE RAINBOW, Book 6--Jessie's story--before this one, so I knew in advance that Jessie was dealing badly with the loss of her brother Tommie, her idol.
